Nightwing is seeking a Scrum Master/Team Coach to help coach and guide the Agile teams supporting the Solutions Engineering Team within the Office of the Chief Engineer. The Scrum Master/Team Coach will serve as the servant leader for the Agile teams to ensure clear communication and removing impediments to help the team success in meeting its goals and objectives. The Scrum Master/Team Coach is expected to have a thorough understanding of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and will be able to use the appropriate Agile methodology (Scrum/XP/Kanban) to facilitate the Agile teams’ activities.
Responsibilities Include:
Exhibit Lean-Agile leadership: Exhibit the behaviors of a Lean-Agile Leader with a Lean-Agile Mindset. Help the team embrace Lean-Agile Values, adopt and apply Lean-Agile Principles, and implement Lean-Agile practices.
Understand and apply the lean-agile principles and practices of Scrum and Kanban methodologies, Built-In Quality practices from Extreme Programming (XP), and principle of product development flow (e.g., limiting Work in Process (WIP), small batch sizes, reducing wait times, identifying and removing bottlenecks, etc.)
Coach the team on setting and meeting PI and sprint goals: Continuously challenge the old norms of development to improve performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity. Help the team focus on daily activities and sprint goals in the context of current Planning Interval (PI) Objectives.
Lead team efforts in relentless improvement: Help the team improve and take responsibility for their actions. Coach the team on team planning, breaking work into small batches of value, writing stories, conducting story acceptance testing and problem-solving techniques.
Facilitate meetings: Facilitate (not lead) team meetings, including (where applicable) the Team Sync, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Team Retrospective, and Backlog Refinement Sessions.
Support the Product Owner: Help the Product Owner in their efforts to manage the backlog and guide the team while facilitating a healthy team dynamic.
Eliminate impediments: Actively addresses team impediments and bottlenecks in the flow of value creation to maximize throughput.
Promote SAFe quality practices: Help the team define and document their story implementation process, visualize the flow of stories through this process in Jira. Provide guidance to assist the teams in constantly improving the quality of their deliverables and meeting the Definition of Done (DoD).
Build a high-performing team: Focus on ever-improving team dynamics and performance. Help the team manage interpersonal conflicts, challenges, and opportunities for growth. Escalate people problems to management where necessary, but only after internal team processes have failed to resolve the issue, help individuals and teams through personnel changes.
Protect and communicate: Communicate with management and outside stakeholders; help protect the team from uncontrolled expansion of work.
Coordinate with other teams: Represent the team in the cross-team Coaches Sync, and pass information from that meeting back to the team. Coordinate with the System Team, User Experience, Architecture, and Shared Services.
Facilitate preparation and readiness for ART events.
Support estimating: Guide the team in establishing normalized estimates.
Required Skills:
Must be a US Citizen
Active Secret (S) clearance. Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability
10+ years of directly relevant experience
4-6 years of Agile delivery experience and recent hands-on experience as a successful Scrum Master
Strong problem solving and influencing skills
Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills
Experience working with various audiences, technical and non-technical
Experience working on software development teams and understand both SDLC and Agile Framework
Experience working with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Extreme Programming, Kanban
Proficient in using Jira.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field. Two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education.

The salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 272,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
