This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Key Accountabilities:
- Performs a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis of raw materials, packaging materials, and/or finished products from manufacturing, to ensure compliance to customer and regulatory requirements and specifications in regard to chemical, physical, and mechanical properties.
- Assist Engineering in establishing testing requirements and providing test data.
- Apply knowledge of engineering and science to conduct tests on metallic and non-metallic materials (e.g., metals, composites, sealants, adhesives, rubber products, plastics) to validate compliance with conformance specifications and provide consultation on related issues.
- Applies existing techniques and procedures with recommendations and implementation for improved efficiency, or devises and develops new analytical test methods and techniques.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
- 5-9 years of experience with raw materials testing
- High School Diploma or GED is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fiber/Void/Resin Content Testing on pre-impregnated materials
- Sample Prep – operating a CNC Machine, Lathe, table saw, band saw or grinder for metallic raw materials.
- Operating element analyzers
- Operating tensile machines
- Sample prep of composite and metallic materials for testing
- Composite machining
- Welding Background
Union:
This is a union-represented position.
Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as spanet and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: $52,600 - $80,600
