1st shift Facilities Technician

Title: Facilities Technician,

Shift: M-F 6am – 3pm

Status: Hourly

Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to 715 Supervisor

Location: Mentor, OH

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent.

Personal Characteristics: Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality/ quantity. Has a history of dependability as demonstrated with strong attendance record. Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving. Have strong sense of urgency. Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

Work Experience: Experience in general maintenance of plant utility equipment. Experience operating a forklift. Experience in handling non-hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste materials.

Principal Area of Responsibility: With a minimum of supervision, this position will be responsible for the proper handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste as generated by the plant. Performing basic PM’s on general plant utility equipment.

Specific Duties:

  • Operation of forklift on a routine basis to dispose of waste generated by the plant processes. Removal and disposal of material stored in drums, hoppers, etc.
  • Incumbent must handle hazardous waste in accordance with the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and company policy.

  • Responsible for the daily maintenance of plant utility equipment
  • Assist in other plant maintenance work as required by supervisor.
  • Repair and maintain other plant equipment as experience indicates.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisor.
  • Observe all safety requirements.

  • Perform preventative maintenance to process equipment throughout facility as experience indicates.

  • Housekeeping and organization as required, as well as other duties as requested by manager, ensuring that all safety requirements are practiced.
  • Limited construction/installation of equipment.
  • Perform work in various areas such as electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, pipe fitting, welding, and soldering.
  • Operate equipment pertaining to maintenance including fork trucks, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts.

  • Repair, service, and maintain equipment as needed at outside vendors, suppliers, customers, and other PCC locations.

  • Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.

  • Incumbent must physically and mentally perform the job demands as listed below.
  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.
  • Physical surroundings vary from pleasant to extreme as regards to temperature, work position, physical effort and cleanliness.
