As the Manufacturing Technician at our Springdale, Ohio site, you will perform precision machining and inspection on hardened components using grinding and EDM equipment and verify conformance using CMM. You’ll support shop priorities, reduce losses, execute preventative actions on major processes, and enable TPM effectiveness—driving Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost outcomes.In this role, you will lift and transport up to 25 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work around coolants and dielectric fluids.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities: Grinding:
- Set up and operate OD/ID/surface grinding to achieve tight tolerances and low finishes on hardened components
- Select and dress wheels; control feeds, speeds, coolant, and spark-out to prevent burn and ensure dimensional stability
- Perform in-process gauging and SPC; maintain fixtures and alignment
EDM (Wire/Sinker):
- Set up workholding; select wire/electrode; manage dielectric/flushing; run skim cuts to control recast layer
- Optimize parameters (on/off time, peak current, wire speed) for profile accuracy and surface integrity
- Deburr and prepare parts for downstream finishing when required
CMM Inspection:
- Program and operate CMM to verify GD&T (size, position, profile, form); calibrate probes and validate datum schemes
- Generate inspection reports; support capability studies, GR&R, and first-article inspections
Process and Continuous Improvement:
- Execute standard work; log exceptions in dashboards; drive corrective/preventative actions on major processes
- Participate in daily huddles and weekly reviews; contribute to loss reduction and TPM activities
- Identify and implement improvements in cycle time, yield, and first-pass quality
Safety and Compliance:- Follow EHS procedures and machine safety; manage coolant/fluids and housekeeping
- Adhere to QMS requirements and documentation standards
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
Desired Characteristics:
- At least 3 years operating precision grinding and/or EDM equipment in a production environment
- CMM operation/programming experience (PC-DMIS or equivalent) and strong understanding of GD&T production dashboards and action trackers
- Willingness to support overtime as needed to meet delivery
- Experience with hardened steels, superalloys, or similar materials
- Knowledge of superfinishing, honing, and lapping
- Familiarity with CMMS/TPM practices and preventive maintenance
- Prior GR&R and capability study execution
- Exposure to lean/continuous improvement (kaizen, standard work, root cause methods)
- Safe, quality-focused, and customer-driven
- Clear communicator; collaborative in a fast-paced shop environment
- Proficiency with precision gauging (micrometers, indicators, bore gauges)
- Ability to read engineering drawings and work instructions; strong grasp of fixtures and datums
