The Sub-Section Manager for Advanced Mechanical Systems is responsible for activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems supporting our RISE technology programs. This role reports to the Section Leader for Advanced Mechanical Design.

The hybrid schedule consists of working in the office minimum of 3 days per week and the option to work from home on the other days, based on team/project schedules.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Help teams of mechanical engineers design components and systems using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Nurture, coach and manage a small- to medium-sized team of engineers.
  • Influence the development of strategy for advanced mechanical systems, including allocating resources and formulating policies.
  • Become knowledgeable about external business challenges and industry trends. Use this knowledge to recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
  • Use a high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks in engineering in the absence of complete information.
  • Able to assess the quality of information given by others and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders.
  • Can offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters.
  • Communicate difficult concepts with clarity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design
