OnsiteThe Mechanical Engineering Disciplines Undersea Sensors & Structures Department is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a minimum 6 years of experience to lead detailed design, documentation, fabrication, assembly, and test of high reliability electronic systems for various military and government applications.
Working as part of an integrated product team (IPT), the position requires broad technical expertise in the mechanical engineering field with knowledge of related disciplines. Candidate should have solid technical and analysis skills, an understanding of production needs, and shall be capable of concept development based upon applying principles of mechanical engineering.
Design opportunities include electronic enclosures and the packaging of custom and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) electronics within those enclosures for land and ship-based systems, and/or undersea systems such as for mine hunting, mine neutralization, undersea vehicles, and undersea sensors.
The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced IPT environment is required. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. CAD literacy is required and experience with PTC CREO is a plus.
This position may require some travel between Raytheon and customer sites.
This position is located in Marlboro Massachusetts.
This is an on-site position where the successful applicant will work predominantly in-plant as the needs of the assigned program dictate.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design, documentation and/or fabrication of complex electronic systems and structures
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with program cost and schedule monitoring and reporting
Experience with configuration management systems
Experience with 3-D modeling software
Task Leadership experience
Experience on DoD programs
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with PTC CREO and PDM
Experience with GD&T
Experience with COTs hardware selection and integration
Experience managing programs using EVMS (Earned Value Management System)
Experience with undersea electronics/sensors/structures design and documentation
Required Education (including Major): Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required, MS is preferred.
Clearance Requirements:
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Typically requires:
A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
Engineering/Other Technical Positions:
Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
