Job Description

The Supply Chain Operations Leader will provide highly visible leadership to an assigned team of Supply Chain Operations personnel, including their people managers (Facilitators), within one of Cheltenham’s Value Streams.  In this role you will foster a ‘one team’ approach across multiple customer focused teams within the Value Stream.  You will hold the day-to-day operational responsibility for ensuring the EHS of our personnel;  upholding the Quality standards demanded to underpin the airworthiness of our products;  and closely balance the resource management of the operation with the purpose of cost effectively meeting productivity and operating targets.  To achieve this you will: 

  • Provide production area leadership focused towards the achievement of goals with respect to EHS, Quality, Cost, Production output, Manpower and Compliance.

  • Interface with other organisations (internal & external) to assure requirements are met on time.

  • Support the Value Stream Leader in the strategic planning of manpower, equipment and other resources.

  • Maintain Value Stream budget adherence through achieving cost effective operational delivery of the Value Stream metrics (Bowler performance) and facilitating the flow of production output to meet our customer requirements. 

  • Advocate a Lean Six Sigma culture within the production environment, driving on-going improvements and the Value Stream Lean Vision.  This will include leading Action Workouts and exploiting the Lean Six Sigma tools to improve processes. 

  • Pursue processes and technology to enhance product/process predictability whilst delivering the quality requirements.

  • Ensure communication of key business and customer issues to assigned personnel.

  • Inspire the manufacturing team to achieve the highest levels of internal and external customer service.

  • Select, hire, train, develop, and provide ongoing leadership and direction of assigned personnel.

  • Provide direct line management of assigned Facilitators, and one-over-one line management of production personnel.

  • Work cross-functionally to resolve near-term manufacturing challenges and mitigate the risk they present to meeting our customer commitments. 

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Relevant degree / similar qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience

  • Experience in a manufacturing leadership role.

  • Strong analytical skills to exploit business data to inform timely decision making.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Demonstrable capability to move beyond this position in the organisation. 

Desired Characteristics

  • Lean Six Sigma training.

  • Prior experience leading change within a manufacturing environment.

  • A working knowledge of the relevant Airworthiness Regulated environment (Part 21G/Part 145)

  • Ability to balance multiple competing priorities under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to influence across a functional matrix

  • Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion.
