Raytheon Technologies is looking for a Machinist in support of the Global ISR Sensors and Software business, located ONSITE in Westford, MA.
This individual will set up tooling for machining new and legacy parts, execute programs, and operate various CNC 5-axis machines. They will produce parts by programming and operating CNC or manual machines (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.). They will also liaise with other departments to ensure machining meets demands.
What You Will Do
Interprets blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, specifications, reference planes, designs sketches and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) for operation, material, and dimensional requirements
Assembles, repairs, and fabricates metal parts into sub-units or complete units using operating mechanical equipment
Takes measurements of material and selects appropriate machines for the process
Performs machining setups and adjusts as required
Conducts inspections of work produced
Checks SPC charts for frequency of checks, gauging and measurements
Keeps records and maintains quality/safety standards Provides technical solutions to engineering
Ensures systems and components meet established specifications
Reworks and repairs mechanical electro-optical, and electro-mechanical systems and components/assemblies as needed
May assist engineering with the design of mechanical parts / assemblies and prototypes
May be trained/certified in multiple skills
May train and mentor new technicians
Qualifications You Must Have
HS diploma and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 8 years of relevant experience is required
Due to programs and projects this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
SAP experience
Team oriented – must be an active participant and willing to step in for other commodities as needed
Familiarity with CNC programming and CAD
Qualifications We Value
Ability to quickly learn computer software programs and input accurate transactions
Familiarity with MasterCAM software is a plus
Ability to read and understand operating instructions and department schedules.
Strong communication skills
ITAR experience
Strong work ethic and multi-tasking skills
Experience working with Electro-Optical assemblies used in surveillance and reconnaissance systems
Experience working as a DoD government contractor
Experience maintaining calibration records
