Job Description:

Purpose  

Cabinet Maker III is proficient in reading blueprints; knowledgeable and experienced with various types of materials and has a high level of experience with table saw, band saw and word working equipment and requires no guidance in performing functions related to the fabrication and finishing of aircraft cabinets and interior components for wood, honeycomb or composite assemblies using design and engineering drawings and specifications.

Essential Job Functions

  • Fabricates aircraft furniture and other composite, honeycomb or wood-surfaced subassemblies using aircraft specifications, design and engineering drawings with a high level of safety, quality, detail and productivity. 
  • Assembles pins and glues cabinet shells. Installs drawer-slides, hinges, latches and other hardware in sub-assemblies. 
  • Applies exterior surface materials such as laminates, veneers, and cap strips. 
  • Ensure the work area is kept to the highest standards of safety, compliant at all times, enforcing regulations and practices to avoid accidents. Ensure that good housekeeping practices are performed at all times. 
  • Perform the proper tagging of Aircraft components, parts and panels appropriately stored (including racks by aircraft). 
  • Perform documentation procedures and signoffs in accordance with Repair Station Quality Manual and respective task requirements. 
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are correctly used and handled for both safety and to reduce breakages, wear and tear. Ensure tooling, GSE and ground equipment is returned to its proper storage area following use. 
  • Strive for continuous process improvements and increasing efficiencies in execution and delivery with safety as a priority. 
  • Maintain close and frequent communication with the Lead Technician, notifying him/her of progress and any roadblocks or threats to task accomplishment that could impact re-delivery. 
  • Deal with customers in a cordial, respectful and professional manner. 
  • Ensure the highest quality service, safety standards and performance, with the objective of exceeding customer satisfaction in the re-delivery of airworthy, reliable and clean aircraft, in a timely manner. 
  • Take part in any required training as determined by the company. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 Supervisory Responsibilities 

 This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.  

 

Qualifications  

Aircraft Cabinet Maker III

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experienced with table saw, band saw, and woodworking equipment.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints.
  • Perform work fabrication, finishing, woodwork etc. without guidance.
  • Knowledge and experience with various types of materials.  
  • At least two years of commercial cabinet shop production or finish carpentry experience. 
    • Minimum one year experience in manufacturing, fitting and installation of custom cabinetry.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Proficient in oral and written English. 
  • Must report for assignment with personal set of standard trade-specific tools. 

  Preferred Qualifications 

  • 3+ years of experience in V/VVIP custom aircraft cabinet making. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics 

  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, structure repair manuals, understanding symbols, flags, and general notes - Identify aircraft locations by station, butt-line, and waterline as shown on engineering documentation and technical orders. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Aircraft Finish and Paint application processes applicable to high end VIP aircraft completions such as clear coat and paint working with composite and Aluminum panels. 
  • Able to read, interpret and apply FAA approved or accepted data (i.e. IPC, M/M, OHM, SRM) proficiently. 
  • Proven ability to work alone and in a team environment. 
  • Effective decision-making skills.  
  • Dependability: personally responsible, completes work in a timely manner, and performs tasks accurately.  
  • Motivation: must maintain a positive attitude and strong work energy.  
  • Organization: very detail oriented and always prepared.

Working Conditions

The work is performed in an office environment, industrial shop, aircraft hangar, at the departure gate or on the aircraft parking ramp.

  • Exposure to climate changes normally experienced in an aviation repair facility.
