We are looking for a Gearbox Module Designer to join our exciting and dynamic Third Parties New Product Introduction (NPI) engineering team. In this role you will be integrated in the team of talented engineers assigned to design Modules for complex Mechanical Transmission Systems meeting product requirements such as safety, performance, quality, and cost.
You will also support the Systems Engineers in conceiving new initiatives Request for Information (RFI)/ Proposal (RFP) for Mechanical Transmission Systems as well as the Introduction to future of flight demonstrator’s development.
You will collaborate with the enlarged team towards significant Customer impact, strengthening our leadership in the aeronautic gearbox market leveraging the strategic partnership with our vertical in-house supply chain, and empowering the team to develop and contribute to our purpose.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Avio Aero is reinforcing the focus to excellence in aeronautical Mechanical Transmissions (i.e. accessory drive-train & power gearboxes).

In this spirit, we are looking for a talented engineer, expected to perform as Module Designer of Mechanical Transmissions (gearboxes).

The Module Designer will follow the whole new product definition process from concept design to product detailed definition and certification.

The Module Designer utilizes experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives.

Conduct concept design and technical feasibility studies in full collaboration with the whole design team, coordinating with the module and systems view the progress in the activities.

Main responsibilities will be:

  • Define gearbox architecture making explicit the design Intent, assuring the achievement of specification targets

  • Discussion on daily basis with the Customer supporting System Engineer in product definition (e.g., geometrical and functional interfaces, engine digital assembly trade studies)

  • Flow down system requirements to components definition (including definition of mechanical/functional interfaces, stack ups and assembly checks)

  • Define the Bill of Material (scheme part list) and populate Configuration Management system tools.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or high school diploma with related experience.

  • Experience in Mechanical Design of complex products

  • Knowledge of gearbox technical requirements, design solutions, and technologies

  • Knowledge of CAD design tools (NX & Teamcenter), and Microsoft package

  • Clear thinking and diligent approach

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Team working and inclusiveness proven capabilities

  • English and Italian fluency

  • Work Visa, according to local regulation, is required

Desired Characteristics

  • Capable to work in multicultural environment, preferable previous international experience

  • Knowledge of gearbox technical requirements, design solutions, technologies

  • New Product Introduction process experience

  • Other previous experience in complex system design

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Curiosity and passion for mechanical design
