Overview
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
Location: Wichita, KS
Key Accountabilities:
- Apply knowledge of engineering and physical science principles, materials, and tools in a collaborative environment to develop, integrate, document and evaluate flight vehicle structure designs for performance, functional adequacy, cost effectiveness, manufacturability, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. Areas of expertise may include primary and secondary structure design, payloads design, and lofting.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or other related course of study from an ABET accredited program
- Level 2: 2-5 years of experience
- Level 3: 5-10 years of experience
- Level 4: greater than 10 years of experience
- Candidate must be a resident of or willing to relocate to the Wichita, KS area
- Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
- Working knowledge of aerospace industry practices and standards
- Advanced thinking and problem-solving ability
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in or knowledge of CATIA V5, NX, or 3DX
- Basic understanding of aircraft structures
- Knowledge of aerospace industry practices and standards
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with partners in quality, manufacturing, and operations to determine where engineering changes are necessary
- Ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of employees
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Strong analytical and organizational skills

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as spanet and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range:
Level 2: $76,250 - $116,900
Level 3: $89,500 - $137,250
Level 4: $115,750 - $177,500
