Job Description SummaryThe BA Connectivity and Ground Software engineering team is looking for a Sr. Embedded Software Development Engineer that has a broad and deep level of expertise that relates to embedded software design to DO-178/DO-330 certification projects.

In this position, you will provide technical expertise and perform technical development, engineering, interfacing, integration, documentation, and testing of complex hardware/software for aviation-based systems. You may also be responsible for leading other engineers and interacting with customers and suppliers.

Essential Responsibilities

As a Sr. Embedded Software Development Engineer for BA Connectivity and Ground Software product line you will:

  • Participate in the design, estimation, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

  • Apply applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Software Procedures, Specifications, Government and Industry Standards, and special Security requirements.

  • Conceive and execute technical development strategies with the team.

  • Generate the proper technical and certification documentation for projects, lessons learned, processes and best practices.

  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.

  • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.

  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.

  • Support activities with technical presentations, requirements definition and respond to Request for information/Request for proposal.

  • Incorporate Product Line Engineering (PLE) practices to maximize reuse.

  • Participate in selection of appropriate technologies, processes, and tools that meet product requirements and advance the platform software architectures.

  • Collaborate with the Systems and architect teams to develop an integrated design approach for product development.

  • Responsible to work alongside the team to author and implement embedded software solutions.

  • Demonstrate a behavior of continuous improvement with the goal of helping the business deliver on customer commitments.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.  

  • Minimum of 8 years of working experience in Software Engineering environment.

Desired Characteristics: 

  • Experience with real-time embedded software architecture and design in an avionics environment working within a cross-functional team.

  • Experience with software architecture, design and verification.

  • Experience with real-time software development, validation and verification in an avionics environment working within a cross-functional team.

  • Experience programing in C.

  • Experience with Linux operating system.

  • Experience leading global and/or virtual teams thru the SW development lifecycle.

  • Experience with DO-178B, DO-187C, DO-254, DO-297 or ARP4754 avionics software development processes and certification standards or equivalent.

  • Experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with emphasis on software planning, tracking and team leadership/software requirements and traceability/ software architecture design/ software design and development/ hardware/ software integration/ software verification & validation.
