Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS) is a world leader in the research, design, and manufacturing of focal plane arrays, infrared dewar cooler assemblies and infrared imaging modules. Our operations department provides world class processes in semiconductors, focal plane arrays, and precision module assemblies.  These processes contribute to the development and production of infrared imaging products across multiple domains. We have an opportunity for a talented Principal Metrology Engineer with a strong background in semiconductor processing.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the theory and practice of metrology techniques and equipment. The candidate will work with process and product engineers to develop strategies for measurement and data collections in support of process control, design of experiment, data analysis and compliance to requirements. The candidate will determine how a disciplined approach to metrology is part of an overall operations strategy

The candidate will be interfacing with multiple functions including Product Engineering, Yield Engineering, Systems Engineering, Quality, Mechanical Design Engineering, Factory Management, Equipment Engineering and Process Engineering

What You Will Do

  • Supporting operations by providing technical expertise in metrology
  • Working with a diverse team of Technicians and Engineers in a wafer fabrication clean room as well as other manufacturing space
  • Taking ownership and responsibility for the control, development and optimization of metrology strategies and equipment
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering to maintain calibration controls for metrology equipment, ensuring reliable, traceable data integrity
  • Collaborate with Yield Engineering and Product Engineering to ensure optimal data collection and interpretation to improve performance, yield and process control
  • Partner with design engineering to ensure required datums, fiducials or other elements required to support metrology are included in design guides and product designs
  • Identify equipment for Capital acquisition in support of overall operations metrology strategy
  • Determine metrology approach for new materials and products and support their transition to production.
  • Work in a cleanroom environment with full coveralls and PPE as required

Qualifications You Must Have  

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a STEM degree in a related field and a minimum of 8 years’ experience as a Process, Product, Manufacturing or Metrology Engineer in an optics, electro-optics and/or microelectronics environment. Or an advanced degree with 5 years of related experience.
  • The Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government issued clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Demonstrated experience in leading metrology engineering in a semiconductor manufacturing environment
  • Ability of solving technical problems, project ownership, meeting deadlines, and multitasking.
  • Thorough sense of ownership, drive, and dedication to continuous improvement.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including technical writing for summarizing data and findings, writing process and equipment specifications and work instructions.
  • Experience with data analytics using JMP, MATLAB or other data analysis tools
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
