About us: 

We work on telecommunication satellite spacecraft products, most saliently the NEO platform and the new OneSat platform. The nature of the customised spacecraft industry raises continuous challenges on a daily basis to tackle. Every day will be unique.

We are a dynamic department of Manufacturing Engineers responsible for instruction, industrialisation, support to production, drawing sign off, Bill of Materials (BOM) structure generation, process improvements, non-quality management, and more…

We work within the composite panel manufacture and assembly, as well as the structure assembly, integration and test, which are built within various levels of cleanroom conditions.

We liaise with various departments and functions such as; design, quality, production, project, finance, and more to deliver telecommunication satellites.

The diverse team are multi-skilled and have very high experience within the manufacturing industry. A lot of opportunity to learn and grow for any interested candidate.

What you will be doing:

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Manufacturing Engineering Department, working on an established NEO spacecraft platform and also a new modular satellite approach called OneSat and its on-going industrialisation and improvements.

The candidate will develop an array of engineering, manufacturing and project management skills within a unique production environment (spacecraft), as well as honing their softer skills such as communication, general management, finance awareness, business case development and more.

On a typical day you will be responsible for several projects within the department and supporting other engineers in their daily work (such as bar chart production reviews and an array of improvement projects).

The candidate will have an opportunity to identify other areas of work and drive their own initiatives should they wish.

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Ideally studying towards Engineering, Science, or a Production/Manufacturing based degree;

  • It will be a plus if you have experience with 3D software design, CAD, Solidworks and Google;

  • Strong communication skills, teamwork, presentation skills, be proactive and also have experience with leadership.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
