The role: Cloud Engineer

Join our dynamic Delivery team at British Airways! Lead the way in agile change, enabling innovation and seamless operations through cutting-edge cloud solutions. As a pivotal part of our airline, youll be instrumental in driving digital transformation and crafting the future of our technology landscape.

What you’ll do:

As a Cloud Engineer, youll work closely with IAG Tech and various business stakeholders to:

  • Design and implement cloud architecture, covering everything from user interfaces to back-end databases.
  • Evaluate and test potential cloud solutions, ensuring they meet our business needs.
  • Develop and deliver cloud solutions using established methods and tools, leveraging expertise from specialists when needed.
  • Test, correct, and ensure fault-free cloud environments, with a focus on automated testing.
  • Foster a Continuous Improvement/Development and DevSecOps culture, collaborating with process owners and subject matter experts.
  • Provide critical support for cloud solutions, ensuring seamless operation and issue resolution.
  • Manage multiple projects, adjusting to varying levels of complexity based on your experience.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

  • Expertise in deploying and maintaining SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS solutions.
  • Strong coding and engineering capabilities in cloud technologies.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and manage stakeholders across the business.
  • Innovation and problem-solving attitude, redefining industry trends into effective, cost-efficient solutions.
  • Leadership qualities, guiding teams towards achieving business objectives.
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing competing priorities.
  • Passion for continuous improvement, contributing to the evolution of software engineering practices.

Your experience:

  • Proven experience in the design, build, testing, and support of large, sophisticated cloud solutions.
  • Demonstrable expertise in SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS deployment.
  • Experience translating business requirements into system designs that are user-friendly and scalable.
  • Experience in an agile or DevSecOps environment is highly desirable, including continuous integration and deployment practices.
  • Experience working across multiple countries and cultures is a plus.
