Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Gathers, defines, and documents system level requirements to support flight control and mission or trajectory definition
  • Develops control laws to meet vehicle performance and stability margin requirements
  • Implements control laws through embedded software development for test and evaluation
  • Analyzes test data to determine how to improve control and accuracy
  • Creates and manages Matlab Simulink Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithms and 6-Degree-of-Freedom (6Dof) simulations for the purpose of flight vehicle development
  • Uses software tools to predict stability and control, control authority, flight envelopes, saturation points, flutter, and accuracy
  • Supports other disciplines in modeling critical mode transitions such as platform separation, stage separation, and shroud removal

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 years industry experience in GNC
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD from an accredited course of study in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Experienced in linear and non-linear system modelling and analysis using Matlab Simulink or equivalent
  • Experienced in using linear control principles to design feedback control systems
  • Experienced in feedback control systems robustness analysis including Monte-Carlo simulation and linear margin analysis
  • Knowledgeable in aircraft/missile flight dynamics
  • Familiar with software version control best practices
  • Ability to attain a SECRET clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8 Years with Bachelor’s in Science; 6 Years with Master’s, 5 Years with PhD
  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Experienced in non-linear control methods including adaptive control
  • Experienced in software verification and validation including software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
  • Experienced in state estimation and sensor fusion using extended Kalman filters (EKFs)
  • Familiar with flight vehicle design concepts
  • Familiar with compressible flow concepts for internal and external flows
  • The ability to lead a team of GNC engineers
  • Experience with Department of Defense programs
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

The base pay range for this position is $109,000 to $181,600. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.  This posting is expected to close on May 17th, 2024.
