What You Will Do:

The Design Project Engineer will focus on designing and the planning of layout for assembly and materials handling. The Design Project Engineer will support the production deliveries and implementation of process improvements in making powdered metal.

  • Adaptation of machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions to produce super alloy metal powders; plan sequence of operations and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product powder cleanliness & equipment design improvements

  • Support suppliers with manufacturing methods and processes necessary for the fabrication and assembly of internally designed equipment; investigate and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment problems

  • Provide input on plant layout, capital equipment and suppliers capability; providing input for process improvement, cost reduction and automation; independently run capital projects ranging from life extension programs on current equipment to new design and build projects for upcoming equipment

  • Design and detail custom equipment and machinery for use in powdered metal production

  • Maintain and drive continuous improvements to manufacturing standard work, ensure alignment with internal customer requirements and systemic audit findings

Qualifications You Must Have: 

  • Bachelors degree and 5 or more years experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations management, program/project management or quality environment or a Masters degree and 3 or more years’ experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations management, program/project management or quality environment

  • ​ Proficiency in AutoCad, Proficiency in SolidWorks, experience with creating and modifying 2D and 3D models and drawings

  • U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology

  • Manufacturing and/or machine design experience

  • Welding knowledge and structural fabrication and design experience

  • Familiarity with the production of powder metal manufacturing with knowledge of welding applications

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
