At Airbus, the Costing team frequently receives questions such as:

  • “Let’s design a Hydrogen powered aircraft! How much would it cost to produce?” - Engineering

  • “Which design is the best in terms of cost?” - Programme / Strategy

  • “How can I factually challenge my supplier’s offers?” - Procurement

We are the Reference Centre of Competences guiding on decisions to foster competitiveness and value for Airbus.

We are acting on a large scope of activities, from R&T subjects to Program development and improvements from Design to Cost and Design to Value initiatives, to Competitiveness of our supply chain and support to strategic decisions for Airbus future.
 

What you will be doing:

On a typical working day, you will:

  • Cost Estimation: Provide an estimate for new aircraft design and production, contribute to the decision of which design, material, manufacturing process, system solution, design or concept represents the best value for the development.

  • Gap Analysis: Perform an analysis to explain the difference between Costing estimates and suppliers quotes. The result will give Airbus levers to deal with suppliers in negotiations. 

  • Modeling: Develop cost models (Additive Manufacturing, Machining, Composites, etc.)

  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate findings and updates to various stakeholders, both verbally and in written form.

  • Learning and Development: Participating in training sessions to enhance skills in cost estimation, project management, and leadership.

  • Travel to other Airbus sites or suppliers if required.

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Studying toward a degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent;

  • Motivated with the ability to manage own activities and work with a multi-skilled, transnational team;

  • Proactive with a keen sense to learn and develop;

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English, other languages are considered a plus;

  • Acknowledging Airbus vision, values, ethics and compliance standards.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
