As an Electronic Inspector at GE Aerospace in Grand Rapids, you’ll ensure the highest standards of safety and quality by inspecting complex electronics used in mission-critical aerospace systems. You’ll work hands-on with circuit card assemblies, precision components, and complete products, partnering closely with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to deliver right-first-time outcomes.The typical working hours for this position are 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect electronic circuit card assemblies, electro-mechanical and electro-magnetic assemblies, precision gyro components, and final products prior to shipment to ensure compliance to specifications and quality standards.

  • Reviewing documentation and activities taken during the build/repair process to ensure compliance to all relevant requirements.

  • Perform in-process and final inspections using microscopes and precision tools; document findings and drive corrective actions to protect Safety and Quality.

  • Conduct random audits of assembly operations to verify compliance to work instructions, process controls, and workmanship standards.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manufacturing work instructions to validate configuration and component accuracy.

  • Use electronic and mechanical inspection equipment including continuity meters, hi-pot testers, calipers, gauges, and microscopes; record objective evidence per procedures.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality engineering, and program teams to resolve nonconformances, support root cause analysis, and sustain continuous improvement.

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and, as needed, with customers to ensure clarity, accuracy, and on-time delivery.

  • Need to participate in both internal and external audits. 

Qualifications/Requirements: 

  • Experience inspecting electronic and/or mechanical assemblies in a regulated or high-reliability environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform extended microscope work while maintaining pace and accuracy.

  • Ability to read/interpret blueprints, schematics, bills of material, and work instructions.

  • Hands-on proficiency with inspection tools/equipment: continuity meters, hi-pot testers, calipers, gauges, microscopes, and hand tools.

  • Basic computer skills in a Windows environment for data entry, documentation, and record-keeping.

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • This position requires U.S. citizenship status.

Desired Characteristics: 

  • Prior certification to DOD or international soldering specs (e.g., MIL-STD-2000).

  • IPC-A-610 solder certification (active) at time of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Work Environment and Additional Information

  • Onsite role requiring extended periods of microscope-based inspection and standing/sitting.
