Job Summary:

Provide support to the section chiefs by communicating and coordinating section operations to the benefit of the operations, logistics team and company. The Deputy Section Chief provides oversite for their respective section and specific section programs as assigned by the Section Chief and is a part of the Operations Support Management and Leadership Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, and other duties that may be assigned.   • Must be willing to travel worldwide and to the Nevada national Security Site for moderate duration.
  • Must maintain a deployable status that requires, physical ability, company training requirements and medical readiness to work at sites which may NOT have access to U.S. trained health care providers.
  • Determines work requirements and procedures, prepares shipments and documentation for worldwide shipment, assists with work schedules, workflow and assigned duties for timeliness, exactness, neatness and conformance to established 49CFR, IATA, and IMGD written Hazmat procedures as well as Company verbal policies and procedures.
  • Assists Chief/Deputy with preparing weekly summary report’s in a professional manner on section activities, will not be limited to:
    • Customer support
    • Lessons learned throughout the week
    • Long and short term logistics projects/deployments.
  • Coordinate with chief/Deputy chief senior company leadership and fellow section chiefs to facilitate efficient and effective operations.
  • When required participate in management meetings/conference calls, VTC’s as required.
  • Actively participate in recruitment of personnel for their respective section by: recommendation any prospective applicants for possible interview.
  • Assist Chief/Deputy Chief with writing annual performance report, Semi-annual feedback/progress and quarterly verbal feedback.
  • Assist Chief/Deputy Chief with review of the annual section-training plan with Training section manager providing amendments and/or creation of additional plans as necessary.
  • Provide input requested in identifying needed training for essential skills and knowledge. 
  • If special computer access is grated, comply with daily log-in requirements (when possible) facilitating response and /or action as required in a timely manner. 
  • Serve as site lead while deployed when appointed by senior management/Chief. 
  • Assist Chief/Deputy ensuring training and compressive understanding of inventory management and maintenance tracking software (Flightdocs) is provided throughout their respective section. 
  • Provide complete communication to employees and supervisors ensuring information on policies, procedures, schedules and other pertinent items are appropriately passed.
  • Instructs mentors and/or assists other employees in in performing duties as appropriate.
  • Maintains harmony among all employees, working to resolve conflicts and grievances.

Job Requirements:

  • Years of experience: (3-5)
  • Type of experience: Logistics/Operations)
  • Certification & Licensures: Hazmat certification (preferred)
  • Ms Office Suite (preferred)

Education:

Bachelors Preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, Jump, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell.  
  • The employee must regularly lift and/ or move up to 50 Lbs. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 
  • Must successfully complete a company required annual Physical Abilities test.
  • Must complete a physical administered by a professional health care organization every two years. 
  • Must maintain physical ability and medical readiness to work at sites which may NOT have access to U.S. trained health care providers.
  • The work sites may be in major cities with care as good as that in the U.S., or conditions may be quite austere with no access to advanced health care at the work site location for extended periods.
