The role:

A highly organised and technically skilled Flight Data Specialist is sought to join our Avionics & Flight Data team. In this role you will have responsibility for maintaining serviceability and regulatory compliance for flight data recording systems on BA’s fleet. Primary focus will be managing FDR, CVR and DLR readouts and compiling verification and intelligibility reporting. You will also collaborate with other teams to assist in resolving recording system defects and supporting incident investigations.

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for monitoring performance of flight recorders, to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Reporting of defects and observations to technical support for rectification, and follow up actions
  • Develop a level of technical expertise on flight recorder systems, including Digital Flight Data Recorder, Cockpit Voice Recorder and Datalink recording, along with related aircraft systems, working under technical guidance
  • Auditing of aircraft maintenance tasks to ensure receipt of data
  • Processing of recorder data through data conversion and analysis software
  • Analysis of data quality, compilation of reports, maintenance of documentation in accordance with regulation
  • Processing of media used for aircraft data download. Media preparation and distribution
  • Maintains in depth strong knowledge of the business area and key stakeholders
  • Carries out business development and change initiatives in support of the team
  • Maintain software systems in response to fleet changes
  • Develops procedures and process improvements

  • Be able to demonstrate ongoing appropriate competency for role including IT systems and awareness of procedures and regulations
  • Maintenance of various documentation required by regulation

Your experience:

  • ONC / Level 3 or equivalent
  • Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent technical industry experience
  • Demonstrated sound engineering judgement
  • Understanding of how investigations are carried out and able to relate to role
