REQUIREMENT
The Aerospace Safety Analyst is responsible for end-to-end risk & safety analysis for space launch, ground operations, and reentry missions. This includes: trajectory development & propagation, vehicle debris/fragmentation modeling, debris risk & hazard area analysis, overpressure/blast analysis, toxic release analysis, and other unique ground safety assessments. In this role, you will act as the technical SME, leading coordination activities with internal and external customers. The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter who has a deep background in flight & ground safety analysis software tools and their practical use across different vehicle platforms.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead interface to customers for technical interchanges and coordination meetings, responsible for generating high-quality deliverables tailored to customer & regulatory needs
- Provide schedule input to program management: ensure customers understand giver/receiver relationships, and ensure deliverables are provided on time
- Develop & review Part 450 and other regulatory compliance documentation to support customer needs
- Act as flight & ground safety analysis SME
- Provide internal and external training on risk & safety analysis topics and software tools
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Detailed understanding of FAA Part 450 & RCC standards in theory and practice
- Demonstrated proficiency in flight & ground safety analysis techniques and software tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive relationships with key players in the commercial spaceflight industry (US Government & Commercial Entities)
- Experience with TAOS, TTK, RRAT, LATRA3D, and Blast DFO
EDUCATIONAL, CLEARANCE AND CERTIFICATION
- US Citizenship required, and must be eligible for security clearance
- BS and MS in aerospace engineering or similar engineering field
- Experience performing analysis at US Ranges, such as SLD30, SLD45, and Wallops Flight Facility
PHYSICAL/WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Primary work environment is a standard office setting.
TRAVEL
- Minimal travel is anticipated to be performed under the guidelines of Federal Travel Regulations and/or Joint Travel Regulations.
